July to September 2015 saw a 4.9% fall in the number of auction lots offered nationally and a 0.7% dip in lots sold, compared with the same quarter in 2014. But success rates were up from 72% to 75.2%, and sales jumped by 8.5% to £1.1m, according to the Essential Information Group.

Cottons sale raises £2.6m

Cottons’ latest sale raised £2.6m, after 64% of lots sold. Out of 41 lots listed, seven sold prior and 18 went in the room. The auction took place on 15 October at Aston Villa FC, Birmingham, West Midlands.

Church-to-resi lot

Countrywide Auction is to offer a former Baptist church in Stowmarket, Suffolk, with outline planning permission for conversion to a three-bedroom house, at its 4 November sale at Le Meridien Hotel, W1. The lot is guided at £180,000-plus.

Somerset piggeries on offer

A rural site containing former piggeries in Chetnole, Dorset, will be offered at Greenslade Taylor Hunt’s 29 October sale at the Shrubbery Hotel, Somerset. The 60 x 24.3 ft piggeries, along with storage sheds, are guided at £65,000.

Tooting lock-up on offer

A freehold lock-up garage in Tooting, SW17, is being offered at the next Andrews & Robertson auction guided at £145,000-plus. The garage may offer potential for an adjoining house on the site, subject to planning permission. The sale takes place at the Hotel Russell, WC1, on 5 November.
