Police stations a steal at £865k
Two former police stations were among the lots sold at SDL Auctions Bigwood’s sale in Birmingham. The properties sold for a combined total of £865,000 in the auction at Villa Park on 6 July. The cheapest lot sold was a terraced house in Peterlee, County Durham, for £21,000. Let on an assured shorthold tenancy, it produces £3,000 pa, a 14.29% yield. The sale raised a total of £12.3m at a success rate of 83% from 145 lots offered.
Bungalow smashes £55k reserve price
A three-bedroom detached bungalow in Alnwick, Northumberland, sold for £181,000 – three times its £55,000 reserve price – at an IAM Sold auction held in Durham on 4 July. The prewar chalet, owned by the same family for 50 years, has views across the coastline of Embleton Bay.
Development potential in SE25
A former warehouse in South Norwood, SE25, with planning approval for redevelopment as six houses and three flats, is guided at £975,000-plus in Andrews & Robertson’s sale on 18 July. Residential ground rents on offer include one lot guided at £6,000 in Walworth, SE17, which produces income of £300 pa. The 125-year lease commenced in 2015. The auction, featuring 53 lots, will take place at Montcalm Hotel, W1.
Harman Healy sale success rate 61%
Harman Healy raised £2.4m from 23 lots offered, with 14 sold in the room, at its sale on 11 July. The success rate in the auction at Kensington Town Hall, W8, was 61%.
