Luxury retirement village provider Audley Group has hired Martin Gorman as a senior land manager for its mid-market brand, Mayfield Villages.
Gorman has more than 15 years’ experience in land acquisition and development, and has previously worked for B&Q and Waitrose. He will be responsible for acquiring sites for Mayfield Villages on a national basis.
Audley said Gorman’s experience in retail ties in well with Mayfield’s strategy, since it will likely be a “potential beneficiary of [a] change in availability of urban sites” resulting from more empty shops in the UK, as “target customers seek town centre locations for their retirement”.
He most recently worked as a land director at Adlington, where he found sites for the extra care developer in Birmingham and across the West Midlands.
Gorman said: “There is significant potential to explore sites that may not have been on Audley’s radar; my experience in retail, a sector that is struggling, could open doors to acquire new, commercially attractive sites for Mayfield.”
