Auntie shortlists for Television Centre sale

Chelsfield, Muse Developments and Australian developer Lend Lease are among the six parties shortlisted to buy the BBC’s Television Centre in White City, W12.

A total of 11 investors and developers bid for the £200m, 14-acre site.

Bids have been made either for the outright purchase of the 1.2m sq ft of offices or on the basis of a joint venture with the BBC to redevelop the site.

Any redevelopment is likely to include the addition of a number of new homes to be built around the main building, known as the “Doughnut”.

One shortlisted party said: “We understand there will be more negotiations, taking the list down to three, with a contract in place by April.”

Other bidders that failed to make the shortlist include King’s Cross developer Argent and residential developer Manhattan Loft Corporation, in partnership with Linden Homes.

A spokeswoman for the BBC said: “A number of bids were received, and an evaluation and shortlisting process is taking place. We expect to make an announcement in the spring.”

Lambert Smith Hampton is advising on the sale.
