Autumn Statement 2014: Chancellor plans multinationals tax

Autumn Statement 2014: Chancellor George Osborne has announced plans to introduce a tax on multinational companies which off-shore profits to avoid corporation tax.

Osborne said the new 25% tax rate was designed to level the playing field for UK companies competing against global giants which manipulated their accounts so that the majority of profits are declared in low tax domiciles.

He said the levy would be charged on profits which had been earned in the UK.
