The RICS director who was aiming to be the first person with Cystic Fibrosis to reach the top of Mount Everest has been forced to abandon his climb in the wake of a fatal avalanche.
Nick Talbot, pictured right, was part of an expedition team at Base Camp when the worst disaster in the mountain’s history struck on 18 April killing 16 Sherpas, one of whom was due to climb with the team. Another five of the team’s Sherpas were injured.
Talbot announced the cancellation on Twitter this week. The most recent post from his account @CF_vs_Everest, said: “We tried various ways to continue our attempt but injuries and the wider situation made that impossible. Unfortunately there were also threats to Sherpa and their family.”
Talbot, a director of global development at RICS joined the expedition, Jagged Globe, to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. To donate, visit http://uk.virginmoney giving.com/CFvs.Everest.
