Avant Homes and Evans Homes have bought 27 acres in Leeds’ Aire Valley with a view to delivering 400 homes.
The acquisition forms a part of the 170-acre Skelton Gate site, which has planning consent in place to build 1,800 new homes. A primary and secondary school, public open space, a local centre and a convenience store as well as associated infrastructure will also be provided on the site.
Skelton Gate is a former open cast colliery site owned by Templegate Developments, the joint venture partnership of Evans Property Group and Keyland Developments.
John Carter, director at Evans Homes, said: “The first phase of over 213 homes will commence in mid-2022 and we look forward to welcoming our first homeowners early in 2023.”
