Avant Homes CEO to step down

The chief executive of Avant Homes, Colin Lewis, has announced plans to retire next year after a decade at the housebuilder.

Lewis (pictured, right) will depart on 30 April, but will continue as a non-executive director for a year.

Avant’s chief operating officer Mark Mitchell (pictured, left) will become chief executive. He has been with company since 2001 and worked his way up from trainee quantity surveyor to regional managing director for Yorkshire, group operating officer and finally COO in 2018.

Divisional managing director Scott Varley has been promoted to COO. Lewis’ decision to retire is in line with a succession plan announced last year.

Paul Bridges, chairman of Avant, said: “Colin has been an outstanding chief executive officer and, in leading Avant, has fulfilled the shareholders’ vision for the company, whilst creating a springboard for future growth in its chosen markets.”
