Avanton submits tower scheme on Old Kent Road

Avanton has submitted plans to Southwark Council for 1,165 new flats, in five towers of between 15 and 48 storeys on the Old Kent Road, E15.

The developer, established by former directors at Barratt and Berkeley Homes, paid around £52m for the site in 2017.

More than a third of the homes will be affordable, delivered in partnership with A2 Dominion.

Avanton partner Marc Pennick said: “New connections and community facilities will prioritise health and wellbeing, thanks to new public open space, a community centre, outdoor gym equipment, and children’s play area.

“Commercial offerings for existing and local businesses will be complemented by a start-up incubator for young people. Our residents hub for bike repairs and maintenance will also be a positive new addition, to keep our cyclists on the road.”

The architect is Farrells and the planning consultant is GL Hearn.
