Avison Young wins Gold in Tokyo

Avison Young is celebrating a big win in the Japanese market today following a six-year investment programme.

The firm is raising a glass to Paul O’Donovan and Fintan McCarthy following their victory in the lightweight men’s double sculls. The pair won Ireland’s first Gold medal of the Tokyo Olympics and Ireland’s first Gold medal in rowing.

The boat has been sponsored by Avison Young since 2015.

Fergal Burke, managing director of AY Ireland, said: “This is a really great association for Avison Young, and for us personally as Con Cronin our chairman has enjoyed a strong association with Rowing Ireland and rowing in general for many years. When we started, we never expected Olympic glory, we just thought sponsoring the lads was a great thing to do and it gave us a lot of pleasure. Now, of course, we are all over the moon!”
