BAA has publicly thrown its weight behind the building of a third runway and sixth terminal at London’s Heathrow airport.
The Financial Times says this is the clearest sign yet that the government is progressing in its drive to ensure a third runway is compatible with meeting its environmental targets.
The airports operator said it was “increasingly confident” that the further growth of Heathrow was possible within environmental limits on noise, air quality and surface access set out in the White Paper on aviation policy issued in December 2003.
