BAA McArthur Glen plans factory outlet/multiplex in Bridgend, south Wales

BAA McArthur/Glen (BMG) has submitted a detailed planning application for a £35m factory outlet centre and multiplex at Bridgend, South Wales.

In what the developers claim to be the first UK project of its kind, the Welsh Designer Outlet Village will combine an 8-screen multiplex cinema with 16,814 sq m (181,000 sq ft) retail. There will also be a 1,858 sq m (20,000 sq ft) food court and restaurant.

BMG is understood to be targeting branded retailers like Nike and Levi’s for the first phase of the village comprising 9,290 sq m (100,000 sq ft) divided into 10 units.

The 10.52 ha (26 acre) development site was assembled by the Land Authority of Wales at Junction 36 of the M4. The authority is behind the construction of a road link from Bridgend to the motorway junction.
