BAE Systems has been granted planning permission for a £100m business park facility in
It will contain 1.1m sq ft of development on a 20-acre site.
Offices, hi-tech industrial uses, a restaurant and new parking spaces are planned.
The outline consent is dependent on BAE delivering infrastructure improvements to the surrounding area, while new road access from the A59 is planned.
The scheme will be a manufacturing centre for BAE’s Eurofighter Typhoon and F-35 Joint Strike Fighter aircraft.
The decision could help open up a further 47 acres of surrounding land for the creation of a specialist aerospace business park, backed by the North West Development Agency.
