Bae Systems is to hold talks with the Scottish Executive and trade unions over the regeneration and development of its Royal Ordnance propellants factory at Bishopton, near Glasgow, for other uses.
Unions are demanding Bishopton be kept open. Bae announced its decision to close the plant last year. It is also closing its Foldingworth site.
Bae Systems confirmed Royal Ordnance had agreed a 10-year partnering arrangement with the Ministry of Defence. The deal is worth an annual S100m.
