Shares in Balfour Beatty plunged as the construction giant ended £3bn merger talks with rival Carillion.
Balfour’s shares fell 5.86 percent, while Carillion’s dropped by 5.35 percent.
Balfour claims Carillon changed it’s position and demanded that Balfour would not sell its US business, Parson Brinckerhoff.
