Ballymore acquires 200-acre site in Budapest

Ballymore Properties has acquired a 200-acre site in the heart of Budapest, Hungary from the Hungarian National Railway.

The Irish developer is now working up plans for a mixed-use scheme including leisure, retail, residential, office and industrial uses.

The site is near a major shopping area and Budapest’s main railway station, Nyugati.

This will be Ballymore’s second major mixed-use development in central Europe: it has already started  work on a 2.15m sq ft mixed-use scheme in the Slovak capital of Bratislava.

It is also reported to be acquiring property in Wenceslas Square in the Czech Republic’s capital of  Prague, where Ballymore has an office.

Ballymore has several schemes underway in London’s Docklands district.
