Ballymore has gained consent for a £30m mixed-use development in the centre of Bray, Co. Wicklow, Ireland.
The scheme – to be known as the Florentine Centre – comprises 86,100 sq ft of shops, 84 homes, a crèche, a community facility and 549 car parking spaces on a 2.28 acre site fronting Main Street, Eglinton Road, Florence Road and Quinnsborough Road in the centre of Bray.
Ballymore chairman Sean Mulryan said advanced negotiations were ongoing with a number of Irish and international blue-chip retailers that wish to operate in the scheme, which is located15miles south of Dublin city centre.
Hazel Jones, Ballymore development director, said: “We intend to begin work on this development almost immediately. We are very conscious that it has taken a considerable length of time to get the project to this point and we are now going to fast-track every aspect of it. Bray is a rapidly growing town with a catchment area of some 80,000 people.
“Retailing in the town has not kept pace with population growth and we intend that the Florentine Centre will rejuvenate the Main Street and its surroundings and keep local shoppers in the town.”
