Aberdeen Asset Management and development partner Hawkstone Properties have unveiled plans for a £50m waterfront leisure development in the heart of Banbury, Oxfordshire.
The CQ2 development forms a leisure extension to the existing Castle Quay shopping mall in the town centre and next to the Oxford Canal.
A flurry of tenants have now signed-up to the scheme, including: an eight-screen The Light cinema as the leisure anchor tenant, the Handmade Burger Company, Zizzi, Chiquito’s and Nando’s. The identities of two further restaurant chains are expected to be confirmed soon, making the scheme 100% prelet.
Budget supermarket Lidl has also taken 30,000 sq ft for a new supermarket, while Premier Inn will open a 117-bedroom hotel with in-house restaurant.
Aberdeen Asset Management’s Cameron Murray, said: “We have been working on this complex project for a number of years. These are well-known names and new entrants to the town, which will offer a huge amount of variety for existing and new visitors to Banbury. With over £35m being invested, the project will have a positive benefit on the town centre and importantly the local economy.”
Construction will begin on site this autumn with practical completion expected in late 2018.
BWD and Jackson Criss are joint letting agents on CQ2.
