Banesto offers €100m of Spanish banks to S&L investors

Banesto is selling 25 retail banking units across Spain for around €100m.

The Banco Santander subsidiary is looking to carry out a sale-and-leaseback operation in an effort to increaseliquidity.

Banesto has hired Aguirre Newman to sell the assets, which can be bought individually or as a package.

The Spanish real estate market has become a leader in sale andleaseback transactionsover the past few months.

In September this year, BBVA was advised by CB Richard Ellis to sell part of its real estate portfolio to RREEF Alternative Investments for €1.15bn.

BBVA, which will occupy the properties for 20 to 30 years, increased its liquidity by more than€800m.
