Banks look to move operations to the EU

lloyd-blankfein-1The World Economic Forum in Davos this week was dominated by the future occupation of major banks in the UK.

Goldman Sachs chief executive Lloyd Blankfein (pictured) met prime minister Theresa May on Thursday to discuss the bank’s future in the country and the prospective relocation of jobs out of the UK. He said Goldman Sachs had slowed the rate at which it had been moving operations into Britain.

HSBC and UBS are considering relocating around 1,000 jobs each out of the UK.

Additionally, other tech, media and retail corporates have downsized or put their requirements on ice.
