Barberry to build 300 homes in Coventry

MIPIM 2018: Barberry Developments has announced plans to develop close to 300 homes in Coventry.

The Bishop Gate East development will include a £45m build-to-rent scheme with 260 flats across three blocks of up to 14 storeys on the Dale Buildings site in Cook Street.

It will also include six townhouses with 72 student bedrooms and a further block of 34 flats.

Barberry is expected to submit a planning application later in the year.

Henry Bellfield, director of Barberry, said: “Coventry is going through an exciting renaissance and we are delighted to be playing a significant role in the comprehensive transformation of this quarter of the city by delivering outstanding accommodation options.

“Bishop Gate East will continue the regeneration of an area of Coventry that was in desperate need of redevelopment and will help to promote the city’s reputation as a leading location to study, to live and to do business after being voted the City of Culture 2021.”

The development will be next to Barberry’s £100m Bishop Gate student accommodation scheme. The first phase of 725 flats for Coventry University students is expected to complete before the start of the coming academic year.
