Six consortia have submitted tenders to build and run the World Trade Centre in Barcelona. They are Starwood, Barceló, Sol Meliá, Hesperia, Hotusa and the Glorias and Victorias Hotels in Barcelona.
The new four or five-star hotel will have 228 rooms and the investment is worth €24m (Pts4bn), plus operating costs until the year 2052. The contract will be awarded towards the end of the year and work will begin in March 2000.
