Barcelona property booms

The commercial property sector in Barcelona is booming. The city has a vacancy rate of 2% and an annual demand for 150,000m2 of offices.

Business parks are increasingly in demand and several new investment packages worth €600m (Pts99bn) are about to be launched.

The Barcelona Port Authority (CZF), along with property developers Colonial and Prima are putting the finishing touches to a new €240m (Pts39bn) development in the Barcelona exhibition park in L’Hospitalet, which will include a convention centre, a hotel and several new office blocks.

There is another plan by (CZF) and Acesa to build four new blocks at an estimated 80,000m2 to be head offices for various companies.

Two other projects of 26,000m2 and 15,374m2 are also under way in the district of Sant Cugat. Finally Layetana has a €120m (Pts19bn) project to build a 30,000m2 building for Aguas de Barcelona.
