Barclays will abandon its 5 North Colonnade office, moving thousands of staff to its headquarters at One Churchill Place.
The move will bring all of the bank’s staff in Canary Wharf under one roof.
The bank said: “This is the result of a long-term review, which aims to drive efficiencies across the group’s real estate portfolio and enable the group to operate more effectively.”
Canary Wharf Group is Barclays’ landlord at 5 North Colonnade and the bank said that it would continue to “honour its obligations under the existing lease”.
The lease is due to expire in 2032, but given the falling demand for London office space, Barclays could struggle to find a sub-tenant.
