Barclays Real Estate has appointed Ross Mackay as a relationship director in its Midlands’ real estate team.
He will be responsible for providing finance solutions to clients in the commercial property sector in the region.
Mackay joins Barclays from Handelsbanken, where he worked as a corporate manager responsible for the larger corporate market.
Prior to this, he spent 10 years at Lloyds covering a variety of roles in both the UK and South America before returning to Birmingham as a relationship director for the corporate real estate team.
Mackay said: “I am delighted at being offered the opportunity to join Barclays Real Estate team which, while the market is experiencing challenging conditions, still views property as a robust and sustainable asset class.”
Steve Thomas, head of the Midlands property team, said: “Ross will be a valuable asset as we continue to build and develop long-term relationships with the sector. We’ve had an active year and have been involved in a number of deals, including the refinancing of Galliford Try, a development finance facility for the King’s Cross Central Partnership and Igloo in respect of the BBC’s new studio facilities in Cardiff, and the sole arranger of an investment loan facility for Tritax to acquire Cobham plc HQ building.”
