Barratt expects profit to have risen 12%

Barratt Developments delivered its largest number of homes since 2008 in the year to the end of June, and is expecting pretax profit for the financial year to have increased by 12% to £765m.

The average selling price also rose, by 5.9% to £275,000.

Chief executive David Thomas described the year as another strong one for the housebuilder, and said it continued to see a positive mortgage environment and strong consumer demand.
