Barratt Developments reported a 12% rise in pretax profit to £765m in the year ended 30 June, while revenue was 9.8% higher at £4.56bn.
The company built 17,395 homes, a rise of just 0.4% although the figure was the highest since 2008. The average selling price was 6% higher at £275,200.
Chief executive David Thomas forecast modest growth next year, and said balancing quality and quantity was key.
