Barratt Developments said it was on track to hit 17,350 completions in the year to June, the highest level since 2008, while pretax profit would be at the high end of expectations of £675m-£733m.
The three months to the end of March has been a strong period both operationally and financially, chief executive David Thomas said.
The homebuilder said it had benefited from a competitive mortgage market and government support in the form of the help-to-buy scheme.
