Barratt snaps up uni land in Cardiff

Barratt has acquired a five-acre Cardiff site from the University of Wales Institute.

The housebuilder plans to develop 76 family homes on the Colchester Avenue land, which formerly housed the University of Wales Institute’s school of management. Construction work is expected to begin early next year.

No value for the deal was revealed, but Mike Rees, head of Cardiff development and residential consulting at BNP Paribas, which acted for the institute, said: “We achieved a good price for the site.”

He added that demand for the land was high.
