Barratt has unveiled an £80m programme for Scotland, to be split between its East and West Scotland subsidiaries.
Perth-based Barratt East Scotland will develop sites in Edinburgh, Fife, Tayside and the North East.
Projects include a £4.5m development, Golf View, in Dalmahoy Drive, Dundee. This will feature 60 two-, three- and four-bedroom homes from Barratt’s Premier Collection. Show homes should be ready in December and prices will start at £62,000.
The other new developments will be at Sovereign Court in Edinburgh where the company will be building 171 apartments of up to three bedrooms. At both Hunter’s Walk, Bankfort, Perth, and Newmacher, Craigie Park, there will be 81 two-, three- and four-bedroom houses. Forrest Road in Kircaldy will have a similar mix of properties.
And Barratt West Scotland will be developing 600 homes. The Falkirk-based subsidiary plans five new developments before the end of this year and three more at the start of next year.
The first of the new developments is at Murdostoun, Newmains, near Motherwell. It will have 95 two-, three- and four-bedroom houses and bungalows. Next on the list is a £3.5m development at Newbyres, Gorebridge.
Also planned is an 89-home development at Pyothall, Broxburn, and a 72-home project at Carrickstone, Cumbernauld.
Later in the autumn Dean Park in Renfrew will be developed with two-bedroom flats and three- and four-bedroom houses.
Developments planned for 1996 include Lionthorn, Falkirk, with 105 homes, Dunblane with 108 homes and a development at Cogan Street, Barrhead, to the south-west of Glasgow which will have five different house types.
“We have had an extremely promising year so far and believe that, although the market has not yet made a full recovery, there is considerable demand for new housing in strong locations,” said Mike Donnachie, managing director of Barratt West Scotland.
