Barteak/PLK jv selected for Rugby Cattle Market scheme

A joint venture between Barteak Developments and PLK Properties has been chosen as preferred developer to transform Rugby’s Cattle Market, kick-starting the town’s next wave of regeneration.

Rugby Borough Council wants the jv to bring forward the £25m mixed-use development which will sit on a 4ha site on Craven Road.

Designed by Aedas Architects, the residential led proposals comprise: 200 flats, alongside 60,000 sq ft of commercial space which may include a care home, a hotel, community centre and ancilliary retail.

Barteak will concentrate on the residential and care home elements, while PLK on the commercial aspect.

An outline planning application will be submitted by the end of the year.

The town has already seen major regeneration with the redevelopment of the Western Relief Road, extended pedestrian areas, and the redevelopment of Chapel Street.
