Barton Willmore gets go-ahead for Boulton Moor scheme

Planning and architecture consultancy Barton Willmore has gained permission for up to 1,058 homes at Boulton Moor in South Derbyshire.

Permission was granted following a public inquiry focusing on five major housing sites in South Derbyshire.

The inquiry opened in May 2007 and ended on 24 January.

The secretary of state for communities and local government granted planning permission for Boulton Moor as well as sites at Highfields Farm, Stenson Fields on the southern edge of Derby.

Appeals on two other sites, Wragley Way in Sinfin and the former Willington Power Station site were dismissed.

The decision allows the construction of more than 2,500 dwellings on the three sites.

Barton Willmore designed the Boulton Moor scheme as well as provided the planning, masterplanning and landscape architectural advice and evidence for the site at the inquiry.

The plans for the 128-acre Boulton Moor site include up to 1,058 homes, together with a new primary school, local shopping centre, playing fields and other open space and facilities.

CgMs, archaeologists and historic building advisers, and Capita Symonds, consulting engineers, were also part of the inquiry team.
