Barwood Capital, the Northampton-based real estate investment and development business, has appointed CBRE’s Susan Clayton as chair of its new Barwood Property Fund 2017.
The appointment is part of Barwood Capital’s strategy to deliver returns to its investors by taking underperforming sites and adding value through planning, development and intensive asset management.
Barwood Capital manages funds that have invested in more than £175m of regional property assets, delivering returns to investors of 12%-20% per annum.
Clayton has more than 30 years’ experience in the UK property investment markets. She is an executive director of CBRE and a former managing director of its capital markets division.
Clayton is also a non-executive director of Helical and a member of the committee of management of the Hermes Property Unit Trust. She is chair of CBRE’s women’s network and a trustee of the Reading Real Estate Foundation.
Barwood Property Fund 2017 will be a closed ended, five-year fund which will create prime income producing investments in the UK regional markets outside central London from under managed land or buildings. The fund will have a potential size of £150m with leverage and target property assets particularly in the industrial and logistics sector. The fund was launched in October 2016 and commitments for over a third of the target equity raise have already been received.
