Bath MoD site picked for £48m science park makeover

Hartham Park Ventures has joined forces with Bath University to draw up plans for a £48m science park and learning centre at the 17.2ha (43-acre) former Bath MoD site at Rudloe Manor.

Hartham and Bath University propose to convert Rudloe Manor into a 25-bedroom retreat for the university’s school of management. In addition, the site’s 1930s and 1940s MoD buildings, which total 9,290 sq m (100,000 sq ft), are to be demolished and replaced with pavilion-style units of 1,000 sq m (10,764 sq ft) each, which will be targeted at spin-out companies such as computer software development firms.

There will also be a university lecture theatre, laboratories, a restaurant and two lakes.

Hartham Park chairman and chief executive Jeffrey Thomas said that, should the scheme gain consent from North Wiltshire district council, site work would start in early summer.
