In a social media post, Adams said: “Looking back, I am genuinely astonished by what we achieved. In place of that derelict site there is now a bustling town centre, a fully restored and rejuvenated power station, striking architecture, a new Tube line, thousands of new homes, thousands of new jobs. From a blank canvas, an entire new piece of London created. All in the space of a decade.
“However, it is time for me to turn the page on this chapter and start a new one. A colleague said once that “we hit the ground running, and never stopped running”, so I am going to take some time off to decompress and have a break.”
A Battersea Power Station Development Company spokesperson said: “After an extraordinary 12 years, Gordon has made the decision to leave Battersea Power Station Development Company to pursue a new opportunity. We would like to thank him for his hard work and significant contribution to the development of the new town centre we have established around the iconic power station and to wish him well for the future.”
