BBC Scotland has submitted detailed proposals for a 350,000 sq ft (32,500 sq m) digital broadcasting HQ (pictured) at Pacific Quay in Glasgow.
The site, on the south bank of the river Clyde, will accommodate around 1,200 staff and will include TV, radio and interactive TV production/broadcasting facilities, as well as meeting areas. David Chipperfield is the architect.
Meanwhile, Pacific Quay Developments has announced that work on the £15m second phase of its Pacific Quay business park on the Clyde will get under way early next year.
Two Pacific Quay is a 60,000 sq ft (5,574 sq m) speculative office building on the waterfront with car parking. It stands next to the site for BBC Scotland’s proposed building and 1 Pacific Quay, which is occupied by the Scottish Criminal Records Office (SCRO).
Pacific Quay Developments is a joint venture between Miller Developments, Grosvenor and CTP, in association with Scottish Enterprise Glasgow. Letting agents on the park are Jones Lang LaSalle and CB Richard Ellis.
The Pacific Quay area also houses the Glasgow Science Centre, an Imax Cinema, the Glasgow Tower and the Science Mall.
