BC Partners launches pan-European property platform

International investment firm BC Partners has launched a new pan-European real estate platform.

BC Partners Real Estate will cover all real estate sectors, making direct and indirect private equity real estate investments as well as controlling and minority investments.

Stéphane Theuriau, former chief executive of French real estate investment company Altarea Cogedim, has been hired as a managing partner in London to build and lead the new strategy.

After joining Altarea Codegim in 2009, he grew the market capitalisation of the company from €1bn to €3bn. Prior to that he launched Morgan Stanley’s real estate investing business in France in 1998, before becoming its head of Europe from 2003 to 2006.

At BC Partners, Theuriau will establish a new team to pursue the investment strategy.

BC Partners Real Estate will be fully integrated within BC Partners, leveraging the knowledge and expertise across the firm.

The new real estate platform is designed to complement both BC Partners’ private equity buyout business, which successfully closed its €7bn flagship fund BC European Capital X earlier this year, and its opportunistic credit platform, BC Partners Credit, which was launched in February 2017.
