The British Chambers of Commerce has slashed its forecast for UK economic growth next year to 1.0% from 2.3%, in its first predictions for growth to be published since the referendum on European Union membership.
For this year, the BCC has cut its growth estimate to 1.8% from 2.2%.
The pace of economic growth is expected to pick up in 2018, but the forecast of 1.8% remains well below the business group’s prior forecast for that year of 2.4% growth.
