Barking & Dagenham’s regeneration company Be First has unveiled plans for a major film studio after taking over the scheme last year.
The proposals include six large stages spanning 140,000 sq ft, with a further 85,200 sq ft of offices and 174,500 sq ft of workshops.
Dubbed “Made in Dagenham”, it would be the largest film studios created in the past 25 years.
Be First took over the plans last October when Californian developer Pacifica Ventures backed out of the scheme due to uncertainty over Brexit.
Plans are expected to be considered by the council’s planning committee in July.
Pat Hayes, managing director of Be First, said: “Given the high demand for studio space in the UK, I am confident that ambitious movie makers, production companies and studio operators will be very attracted by these proposals.”
Council leader Darren Rodwell added: “This is a crucial stage in our ambition to make Dagenham London’s Hollywood. The new studios will be a game-changer in bringing thousands of jobs to Dagenham.”
LSH is advising on planning.
