James Beattie is to open its 10th department store at the Kingsgate Centre, in Huddersfield, in spring 2001.
It is part of a £12m plan by the Midlands-based group to increase sales space by more than 30% over the next two years.
This will include the expansion of its stores in Wolverhampton, Solihull, Sutton Coldfield and Northampton. It is also looking at possibly acquiring existing department stores.
