Claymore Group has won planning permission for a six-acre out-of-town retail park in near Leighton Buzzard in Bedfordshire.
Claymore claims the permission from Central Bedfordshire council is the first for an out-of-town retail park so far in 2013.
The plans for the park in Grovebury Road comprise a total of 64,000 sq ft of retail space with land set aside for a second phase to provide facilities for up to 15 small start-up businesses.
Claymore’s Stephen Cole said: “The emerging local development plan core strategy identifies a considerable capacity for additional retail development to serve the needs of the local population and we are delighted our scheme has been approved to help meet this need.”
Wilkinson Williams, which is acting for Claymore, has now begun discussions with the potential tenants as part of prelet marketing campaign.
Claymore is working in collaboration with the landowners, The Church Commissioners, on the scheme.
The Church Commissioners are advised by Smiths Gore.
It is hoped that trading could begin at the retail park in 2014.
