Around 40 retail agents made the early morning trek into central London to hear Thornfield talk about its retail and leisure scheme in Bury – a spiel it has already given to their northern counterparts.
They were lured to the presentation at the Courthouse Hotel, Great Marlborough Street, perhaps in the hope of winning two tickets to Bury band Elbow’s Wembley gig in the business card raffle. (That prize went to someone from Jones Lang LaSalle.)
Thornfield’s team did their best to be upbeat, extolling the merits of the £330m development – apparently, one of only three schemes due for completion next year. There was, however, the slightest hint of desperation when one presenter jokingly attempted to sell to the audience a few of the 405 apartments that form part of the scheme.
