Beetham has won planning consent for the UK’s tallest housing scheme, a 47-storey tower on Manchester’s Deansgate.
The £150m glass tower will house a Hilton hotel and 219 flats.
It was designed by Ian Simpson Architects and will be 157m high.
Already 200 of the one and two-bedroom apartments from floors 25 upwards have been sold and only 12 of the penthouses are still available for sale.
As well as Hilton’s 285-bed hotel, the scheme will contain 70,000 sq ft (6,500 sq m) of offices.
Work is planned to begin on site in February 2004.
Beetham is developing two similar schemes in Birmingham and Liverpool in conjunction with Radisson SAS Hotels & Resorts.
The 30-storey tower in Liverpool was topped out in the summer, while the Birmingham Tower started on site in June.
