GIA has appointed Antonia Belcher as a non-executive director.
Belcher, who co-founded London-based building consultancy MHBC in 2007, has more than 40 years’ experience in the property and construction industries.
She will sit on the GIA board, providing independent judgment, unique perspective and support on issues across corporate governance, strategy, risk management and succession planning.
GIA said Belcher’s appointment was a “testament to GIA’s commitment to unlocking the potential for a better built environment through the delivery of technical surveying work with clients across the property life cycle”.
Chief executive Sam Wallis said Belcher’s experience and dedication to equal opportunities aligned perfectly with GIA’s values.
“We believe her independent judgement and strategic insights will be invaluable to our growth and development,” he said.
Belcher said: “I look forward to contributing my experience and insights to help GIA continue its impressive growth as well as its commitment to diversity and inclusion.”
Alongside her professional acumen, Belcher has also been recognised as one of the Financial Times’ Top 100 LGBT+ Executives. In 2022 she was awarded an OBE for her services to equality in business, supporting trans communities. Belcher and her wife Andrea run the Antonia & Andrea Belcher Trans Fund, providing funding to trans organisations around the world.
