Bellway buys in Herts

Bellway Homes has exchanged contracts with MEPC to buy a 38-acre site at Leavesden, Hertfordshire, to develop a £120m mixed-use scheme.

The former Rolls-Royce engine factory site has planning permission for a scheme comprising 425 homes, 25,000 sq ft of commercial space and a 120-bedroom hotel.

Stuart Wallace, Bellway’s north London managing director, said: “Our development proposals very much follow the masterplanning principles established by MEPC with Three Rivers district council. Further public consultations will take place in May, which we hope will lead to the first sales being available in 2013.”

Jones Lang LaSalle acted for MEPC; Bellway acted for itself.
