Bellway Homes has bought a raft of housing sites in the North West as part of a bid to move into the higher end of the market.
This week the housebuilder bought 12 sites with a total development value of £180m in Liverpool, Sefton, Winsford, Warrington, Wythenshaw, Bolton, Biddulph, Manchester, Rochdale, Hulme and Stretford.
Bellway also applied to build a total of 570 homes on schemes at Widnes, Aintree, Chester, Nantwich and Manchester.
And last week, Bellway applied to build 175 homes on the former Stella Products site on Barlows Lane opposite Aintree racecourse in Liverpool, as well as 75 units in West Bank Street, Widnes. The company, together with British Waterways and Manchester-based developer CTP, has also applied to build 175 homes in Tower Wharf, Chester, as well as offices, bars and restaurants.
Bellway chief executive John Watson said the acquisitions would enable the firm to reposition itself: “The sites will provide the opportunity to develop and showcase new designs, which will be reflected in higher average selling prices.”
