The chancellor has been warned more people will be forced into homelessness unless he ends a three-year freeze on housing rental benefits.
Nineteen bodies, including some of Britain’s best-known homelessness charities, have written to Jeremy Hunt urging him to increase the local housing allowance, which is paid to people who qualify for housing benefit but rent in the private sector.
The LHA rate has been frozen since April 2020.
