Benjamin made English Partnerships deputy chairman

Victor Benjamin (pictured) has been appointed deputy chairman of English Partnerships.

Benjamin was awarded the three-year post at the Government regeneration body by DTLR Secretary Stephen Byers.

Benjamin worked until 1994 for solicitor Berwin Leighton, where he was a partner in property, finance, mergers and acquisitions. In 1971 he joined the board of Lex Service and became deputy chairman in 1973.

In 1982 Benjamin became a director of Tesco, where he was appointed deputy chairman in 1983. He retired from this post in 1996, although he continues to chair the companys pension fund.

From 1994 until May this year, he was chairman of the Beazer Group. He left to become chairman of logistics company Wincanton in March 2001.
