Tony Pidgley’s Berkeley Group has strengthened its foothold in the riverside residential development market with the acquisition of a former convent on the banks of the Thames.
The group’s St James division has bought Isleworth House in Middlesex for more than £14m from the Sisters of Nazareth.
St James expects to submit a planning application next year to redevelop it into ?high-end homes. The 7.6-acre site has an implemented planning permission for ?120 retirement homes and a care home.
The Thames bank is one ?of the most vibrant London markets, with 2,900 homes under construction in the first half of 2013, up from 1,830 in H1 2012.
Jones Lang LaSalle and Stanley Hicks & Sons acted ?for the Sisters of Nazareth.
