Berkeley Homes has written to secretary of state Michael Gove over his decision to block planning for its 165-home project in Cranbrook, Kent.
The housebuilder has told Gove that it intends to challenge his “irrational decision” to overrule planning inspectors and refuse the project. It wants him to immediately quash the decision.
Gove overruled inspectors saying the homes were of a “generic suburban nature” and did not reflect the expectations of the local design code.
The Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities has declined to comment beyond the content of the letter, writes The Times.
